History of TRC

On Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Winchester Center, Connecticut, the Trinity Reformed Church gathered for the first time for Lord’s Day worship. This was an assembling of saints who desired to have a Reformed biblical church, rooted in historic Congregationalism in Northwest Connecticut.

TRC origins go back to 2007 when the Second Congregational Church of Winsted, then called the Church of Christ, called Rev. Douglas Aldrich to be their pastor. For 16 years Pastor Aldrich lead the church to return to the biblical faith grounded in historic creedal Congregationalism of the Protestant and Reformed Traditions. Starting in 2021, however, a faction within SCC desired to take the church in a different direction which lead to a church split in 2023.

By the Lord’s mercy, several dozens saints were called out to form a more purified and Reformed church, lead by Pastor Aldrich, Bob Ensminger and Rich Gabelmann, who would become the first elders of TRC.
